I often ask myself had I known two years’ ago what I know now, about starting a business, running a café, leasing a commercial premise, project management, and of course the big one – how much money it would cost – would I have even entertained the idea?
Perhaps my naivety was a blessing, because here we are, week three, and we’re actually doing this!
In the week before opening, Kristy and I both had bingles in our cars, Kristy ended up in hospital. Both battling with a massive case of Mumma guilt over barely seeing our babies, compounded by traumatic daycare drop-offs and Miss Two’s extreme clinginess.
I’m not sure if either of us were confident we could pull it all together, but somehow we did, and we’re managing. As someone said, our menu is small and simple (and hopefully delicious), but better to do a few things well than a lot of things mediocre. We’ve never done anything like this in our lives before so let’s not pretend to be something we’re not. As long as the coffee’s good and we can continue to provide a relaxing space for our patron’s then we are happy.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us in our venture, to our customers who keep rolling through the door, our husbands (for the handouts) and infinite hours of daddy daycare. Nanna and Poppa, Lola and Charlie, Granny and Grandad. Thank you xxx
